Snapchat

How to connect Snapchat to Roivenue, what the default setup downloads, and how the figures are put together.

Snapchat Ads reports at ad squad level. The Roivenue connector downloads daily impressions, swipes and spend, plus the conversions Snapchat attributes to your ads.

Setting up the connector

1. Connect the account

Add a Snapchat connector in Roivenue and choose Connect to Snapchat. Roivenue sends you to Snapchat to sign in and approve access, then brings you back to Select Snapchat View.

No keys to copy, and nothing to configure on the Snapchat side.

Setup options

The connector asks a few questions when you create it. The defaults suit most accounts.

Option
Default
What it does

Swipe Up Attribution Window

28 days

How long after a swipe Snapchat still credits a conversion. Options are 1, 7 and 28 days.

View Attribution Window

1 day

How long after a view Snapchat still credits a conversion. Can be switched off, or set between 1 hour and 7 days.

Snapchat Conversion Type

conversion_purchases

Which Snapchat conversion counts as your conversion. Other options include add to cart, checkout started and sign up.

Conversion type name

What that conversion is called inside Roivenue.

AdCampaign REGEX filter

Limits the connector to campaigns matching a pattern.

What the default setup downloads

Three jobs. One brings impressions, swipes and spend per ad squad and day, a second brings conversions and their value, and a third downloads the hourly feed behind synthetic impressions.

Two things are worth knowing. Snapchat's ad squad becomes the ad group in Roivenue, and clicks are Snapchat swipes, so they will not line up with a click metric from another platform.

The attribution windows you pick are sent to Snapchat with every request, so the conversion counts are Snapchat's own numbers under those windows, not something Roivenue recalculates. Changing a window changes history from that point on.

The jobs reprocess the last two days on every run.

Available columns

The table above is what the recommended template downloads. Every column this connector can bring back is listed on Snapchat - Supported Columns.

Adding one means editing the connector in the Advanced Editor, which stops that connector receiving template updates.

Synthetic impressions

Alongside the daily figures, this connector downloads a conversion feed that Roivenue uses to build synthetic impressions.

Ad platforms report conversions that Roivenue never saw as a web session, because of ad blockers, cross-device journeys or conversions uploaded from a CRM. Left alone those orders look like they came from nowhere, and paid media gets undercounted. The synthetic impression stands in for the missing visit so path analysis and attribution see a complete journey.

There is nothing to configure. It comes with the connector, and it is why the setup creates more than one job.

How far back the data goes

The connector will request up to three years of history. How much arrives depends on what Snapchat holds for the account.

Troubleshooting

Conversion numbers do not match Snapchat Ads Manager

Check the attribution windows first. Roivenue asks Snapchat for the windows chosen when the connector was set up, and Ads Manager may be showing different ones.

Clicks look low compared with other platforms

Snapchat clicks are swipes. That is a deliberate action on a full-screen ad, so the rate is naturally lower than a click on a banner or a search result.

A campaign is missing

Check the campaign regex filter on the connector. It defaults to matching everything, but a filter set during onboarding will silently exclude anything that does not match.
