# Filter Panel

The Filter Panel narrows the data on a page to the sites, platforms, campaigns, or other dimension values you choose.

Most questions in Roivenue are about a part of your marketing: one site, one platform, one campaign type. The Filter Panel limits the data on the page to the dimension values you choose. All charts, tables, and KPIs on the page then show only that part of the data.

Use the Filter Panel when you want to:

* Look at one site, platform, or channel only.
* Exclude something from the results, for example brand campaigns.
* Compare a part of your data with the total.

The Filter Panel is on the right side of most pages. Open and close it with **Open Filter Panel** and **Close Filter Panel**. It lists the dimensions you can filter by, such as **Site**, **Platform Name**, **Campaign (auto)**, **Sales Channel**, or **Channel Name**.

### How to filter data

1. Open the Filter Panel and click a dimension, for example **Platform Name**.
2. The list of values opens. Next to each value, you see its value of the selected metric, for example **Cost**.
3. Select the values you want to see:
   * Tick or untick values one by one.
   * Use **Only** next to a value to keep just that value.
   * Use **Select All** or **Unselect All**.
   * Type into **Search**, then use **Select only** to keep the values that contain the text, or **Select all except** to exclude them.
4. The page updates with the filtered data.

Sort the list with **Sort by A-Z** or by the metric. At least one value must stay selected.

To remove all filters, click **Reset All** in the Filter Panel or **Reset All Filters** on the page.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Filters apply to the whole page.** Active filters are shown as chips, for example **Contains "brand"**. Use **Clear filter** on a chip to remove that filter.
{% endhint %}

### How to customize the Filter Panel

Click **Edit** in the Filter Panel. You can then:

* Drag dimensions to change their order.
* Hide or show a dimension with the eye icon.
* Pin up to 3 dimensions with the pin icon, so they stay at the top.

Click **Stop Edit** when you are done. These changes affect only your own settings, not other users.

You can't hide a dimension that a bookmark or a dashboard widget uses for filtering. Which dimensions exist in your account is set in [Dimensions](https://docs.roivenue.com/roivenue-resources/roivenue-training/roivenue-app/data/custom-dimensions).

***

### How to save and share the view

* **Save** → **Save As Bookmark** saves the page with its filters and date range. See [Bookmarks](https://docs.roivenue.com/roivenue-resources/roivenue-training/roivenue-app/bookmarks).
* **Save** → **Save As Default** saves your page setup as the default view. Filters are not saved.
* **Share** copies a link to the current view.

#### FAQ

<details>

<summary>1. Why did some of my selected values disappear?</summary>

Roivenue removes values that are not available in the current context, for example after you change the date range or the site. A message tells you which values were removed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>2. Why can't I select more values at once?</summary>

For performance reasons, there is a limit on how many values you can filter for one dimension. Narrow the search, or create a [custom dimension](https://docs.roivenue.com/roivenue-resources/roivenue-training/roivenue-app/data/custom-dimensions) that groups the values you need.

</details>

<details>

<summary>3. Why is a dimension missing in the Filter Panel?</summary>

It may be hidden. Click **Edit** and check the eye icon. If the dimension isn't there at all, check [Dimensions](https://docs.roivenue.com/roivenue-resources/roivenue-training/roivenue-app/data/custom-dimensions) or ask your Client Success Manager (CSM).

</details>

<details>

<summary>4. Do my filters stay when I open another page?</summary>

Filters belong to the view you are working in. To come back to the same filtered view later, save it as a bookmark.

</details>

<details>

<summary>5. What does the Undefined value mean?</summary>

The data has no value for this dimension, for example traffic without a campaign name. You can filter it like any other value.

</details>

<details>

<summary>6. Why does a dashboard widget ignore my filters?</summary>

The dashboard can use widget-level filters. Each widget then keeps its own filters. You change this in **Edit Dashboard**. See [Dashboard](https://docs.roivenue.com/roivenue-resources/roivenue-training/roivenue-app/dashboard).
