# Impressions

**Impressions** are how many times a certain ad was displayed on websites hosting advertising. An impression only means that the ad was loaded into the website - this doesn’t necessarily mean that the visitor saw the ad. Still, the number of Impressions is suitable for a rough estimation of an ad’s visibility. This metric also finds use as the input variable for indicators such as [click-through rate](/roivenue-resources/glossary/marketing-and-financial-glossary/click-through-rate-ctr.md).
