# Sales Revenue

**Sales revenue** is a metric that tells you the income from sales of goods and services within a specific date range. This date range is typically a standard period of time, such as a month, quarter, or year, but other non-standard intervals can be used. In fact, in e-commerce terminology sales, net sales, net revenue and revenue tend to carry the same meaning.

In Roivenue, sales revenue refers to the generated turnover that does not contain the returned orders and undelivered orders. Sales revenue and [gross profit](/roivenue-resources/glossary/marketing-and-financial-glossary/gross-profit.md) are used to calculate [gross margin](/roivenue-resources/glossary/marketing-and-financial-glossary/gross-margin.md).
